The Overlook depicts a middle of the road hotel room, set in America in the 1970's.  Within the room are the findings, collectables and memories of an unnamed traveler who's been living at the hotel for 4 months and 12 days.  Littered with artwork and personal belongings from the present and the past, the hotel room is in many ways a symbolic holding pattern.  One could even consider it a marinating moment.

Just as this individual settles into this room and is the caretaker of these belongings, we are reminded of the temporariness of this moment in time.  These ownerships, which overlap in this moment are not ones of permanence, knowing full well that just as the hotel room will host a new guest, these objects will also fall under new ownership and care.

Included in Room F18 are collected works from nine artists who's contributions to the individuals life have carried with them physically, even to this deviation of the regular patterns of life.  In this paired down portrait of an individual, we look at these objects as marks of a person biographically.  They've left conformity or even symbolically "the house" and all that has been been built around them.  For in this installation the works are presented like stripped down punk rock moments and snap shots of an individuals course through out life.

For this very moment is the accumulation of years of events, and within Room F18 we find a caretaker of both history and time.
